Everything Contain does
It gathers your windows, holds them as tabs and lets them go — and does nothing you did not ask for.
One tab per window, not per app
Three documents from the same editor are three tabs. Click one and that window comes to the front.
Pick from a grid of what is open
Click the empty Contain window, or + in the tab bar, and every open window appears as a tile. Pick one and it becomes a tab.
Reaches windows on other desktops
Windows on another desktop or display are in the picker too. Pick one and Contain fetches it and brings you straight back.
Fills the screen when you want the room
The green button, or ⌃⌘F, fills the display and resizes every contained window to match. Esc puts it all back.
Windows stay where you put them
If an app moves its own window, or a drag goes astray, Contain puts it back within a second.
Move it, resize it — the window comes too
Drag the container or pull an edge, and the window inside follows, in front and in step.
One window contained, the rest left alone
Contain one of three documents from the same app, and the other two stay out on the desktop.
Put back exactly as found
Release a window, or quit Contain, and it returns to the position, size and screen it had. Contain never closes an app for you.
The real window, still live
Nothing is copied or mirrored. Type, scroll and drop files into the window inside, exactly as before.
Help where you need it
A short guide on first launch covers the permissions, the picker, tabs and letting go. Settings shows whether each permission is in place, and a Limitations pane explains what macOS will not allow.
Keeps itself up to date
Updates install with a click, and each one is verified first. Bought on Setapp, Contain is updated by Setapp.
What you have open stays with you
Your app names and window titles never leave your Mac, and there is no analytics in the app at all.
Live previews, only if you ask
Picker tiles can show a live thumbnail of each window. That needs Screen Recording, so Contain only asks if you turn previews on.
